Dr. Shea is a GIS technologist and open source internet programming developer based in Hong Kong. He specialises in all things related to Internet GIS and OpenStreetMap, whether that's mapping, rendering, geo-spatial databases or any related technologies. He is a Chartered Fellow of The British Computer Society and a corporate member of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Information Discipline).

Geoffrey has been involved in the ICT industry since 1987 when he was working in Hong Kong CAD-CAM Services Co., Ltd. for the GIS consultancy project for then Urban Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. This was the first GIS project carried out in the government departments at that time. He obtained his PhD degree in Computing from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2010 after 7 years' of part-time study with the focus of his research being adaptive mobile GIS. Geoffrey was one of the invited speakers on Open-Standard Mobile Map Application Development Seminar organized by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) of the Government of the HKSAR in 2006.
